3.9 Craig Davis - WR - LSU

It took me a bit of time because I checked and rechecked about 3 times to see if he was already taken. I will be mad if I goofed up and missed him being picked earlier.

Good hands, should translate well to a Kubiak offense, Kubiak has expressed a desire for another WR that can stretch the field. Bonus in that he is from this part of the world, is used to practicing in heat, so might want to stay if he is any good. (That is a consideration when you are team with little history).

i like the craig davis pick. i wouldve taken him if WR was a need spot on one of the last two picks probably. solid 3rd round value guy if a team waits on WR.

I agree, i like this pick, both Spencer and Davis have been nice value picks in the 3rd.

I'm drinking the Davis kool-aid also.. It was down to him and Gonzalez with my 2nd round Jags pick and I don't know that I've seen him projected farther down than mid-2nd round in any mocks.

No need to worry about the thickness of my skin, it is fine. I'm not getting defensive, I just would like to continue the debate of Weddles' character since we seem to disagree.

First, to address your "evidence to the contrary":

1. Many people think they are better than they are. When an athlete excells at a sport this is very common. I would call it a fault, not bad character.
2. "Celebrates like he won a gold medal". Not sure what the writer was getting at here. Most gold medal winning celebrations that I have seen have been very dignified. If he means he is over exhubarant when he makes a great play then it might be a fault, not a character issue to me. It's also hard for me to believe he is not happy for a teammate who has done something good. If he acts this way, then I don't like it, but I will believe it when I see it.
3. Not a team player. Has played virtually every position, except lineman, for Utah. I would call that a team player.

Second, I didn't think I was "trumpeting" when all I did was mention "high character". I will now officially "trumpet" by qouting from the official website of Utah Athletics:

"...very active in community service, including helping out the Utah Food Bank, speaking on the importance of education at the Utah youth correctional facility, visiting children at the Utah Primary Children's Hospital and tutoring kids with learning disabilities at three different elementary schools...special education major..."

How you and I define character seems to be very different.

By the way, thanks for letting me know that a "Mock" draft is not real. I had a feeling it wasn't.

by my count, i just snagged my third first round prospect. im flabberghasted that he fell this far, but whatever i'll take it.

a lot of people have him as a de/lb type. really, i wouldve taken him for arizona a couple picks ago as a good fit for them and their new pittsburgh coaches, but i had already used an earlier pick on jamaal anderson.

if i had taken him for minnesotas second round pick, i wouldve thought it was just about where he should go. i must have checked like 15 times to see if he for SURE wasnt gone yet. oh well.
My vote for the best value pick of this draft. I would have taken him at 3.2 if I had not already taken Moss in the 2nd. DB was too big of a need for me in the 3rd to take another DE. If I new Spencer was going to fall this far, I would have picked someone else in the 2nd, and snagged him in the 3rd.

I would love it if Detroit takes him in the 2nd if he is still there on Draft Day.

I have to agree, has to be the best steal of the draft so far.

And see, I thought I had the 2 steals in the draft--Peterson and Craig Davis.

I real life draft land, I would feel like I stole money or something.

(Though in real draft land, I am think the Texans are going to want to move down out of the #10 pick if they can get any takers since they don't have a second rounder any more).

to be fair, its not too difficult to take by far the best player on the board when both are at huge need spots. then again, several other GMs before me baffled me both rounds passing on the guys, so whatev.

I will now officially apologize.
I now realize that drafting a backup DB with experience in Special Ed. is an ideal fit for not only you, but your franchise. That type of on- and off-field versatility will be a virtual windfall for your club.

Forget Da Bomb's astute picks, Weddle is the true steal of this draft.

Thank you for your cherished approval. The character concerns you mentioned have been duly noted. "Pac Man" Weddle is sure to slide far down on Draft Day due to your "untainted" (lacking information) scouting report. Apology accepted. Let's move on.

I'm all about moving on, but leave my taint out of this!

In all honesty, I pull for the Lions to rebound every year. I have in-laws that live in Ferndale (I think that's the right name) and Roy Williams is one of my favorite non-Pittsburgh players, when he's not talking to the media, that is. We're planning a trip up there next Thanksgiving and my wife's aunt has access to Lions and Red Wings tix through her job.. so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Just please don't stay at #2 and take Gaines Adams, like the "Ultimate Draftnik" Mel Kiper is now predicting.
