i cant believe greg olsen is still on the board. hes a gift if he falls this far, and the jets have been wanting a great playmaking TE for a long time.

I was shocked during the last 4 picks that Aaron Ross hasn't been a choice yet. He's the pick here for me.

I like Olsen just fine, but he's more of what I would consider a "luxury pick" for a team with fewer holes to fill than the Jets have.

No way the Jets pick a TE in the first round . CB or Lineman is the way they will go .

I honestly thought about that. With the addition of Jones...to be able to get a Staley, and really add another key part to the O-line would be a huge benefit. However, I am not real sure the value for Staley is so high over other canidates out there. Cb is a real need, and in this mock, where only two have gone....the talent is there. Again, though, as brought out...it also means value can be had later.

to me...value of the top TE falling this low...makes him the pick here.

if aaron ross isnt the pick here, maybe its time to start listing him ahead of chris houston in the options since everyone here seems to prefer him over houston.

also, what makes the jets have tons of holes they need to fill, and not be able to use a pick on olsen? if you ask me, TE is one of the biggest holes. i mean this is a playoff team! they have a RB now, they have a QB and one for the future, they have WRs and OL. the LBs and Ss are awesome. the CB and DL can use help, definitely, but i think TE is as big a need as anything else. i would pick a corner if olsen wasnt there and it'd be a nice pick, but none of the available ones equal the dimension olsen would add to the offense with a player of his caliber.

The area that the Jets offense struggled last year was running the ball effectively. Olsen doesn't help that, nor do I think he is a good fit for the offense. I think they want a tight end with more blocking skills than Olsen.

They are in need of a quality starting cornerback this year, and they are not going to get that in the 2nd round. Ross is clearly the answer here, given that he is still available.

As it is close, I will leave this up a little longer. But I do want to finish this before the draft next week.

I will disagree.

I have been to many sites, and have actually found most are higher on Houston than on Ross. That is why I have the other catagory though...so those who have differing opinions, can thus state who they want.

i know elsewhere houston is listed first by most, but it seems the last few votes in a row have had people voting in for ross under other, and him usually getting more votes than chris houston who is listed. just talking about us people at sportsoutlaw, some of us (well one of us) with a clear texas bias that might be affecting others.

I did notice that nfldraftcountdown has Ross listed as the 5th running back, which is one of the reasons I refuse to use that site for anything. Somehow, they have his 40 time listed as 4.50 as well, I have no idea where they got that number from.

All depends on who you use to get info. nfldraftscout, scouts inc, Kiper have Ross out front.

Interesting note on Revis, for all of those who mocked me for being high on this guy He appears to be leapfrogging his way to the top of several rankings at this point.

Here are the bigger sites rankings for cornerbacks, notice how Revis is showing up compared to Hall, Ross, and Houston.

Mel Kiper

1. Leon Hall, Michigan
2. Eric Wright, UNLV*
3. Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh*
4. Aaron Ross, Texas
5. Chris Houston, Arkansas*
5a. Josh Wilson, Maryland
5b. Jonathan Wade, Tennessee
5c. Marcus McCauley, Fresno State
5d. Daymeion Hughes, California

NFL Draft Scout

1. Leon Hall
2. Darrelle Revis
3. Aaron Ross
4. Chris Houston
5. Jonathan Wade
6. Marcus McCauley
7. Eric Wright
8. David Irons

Scouts Inc.

1. Leon Hall
2. Darrelle Revis
3. Aaron Ross
4. Chris Houston

(4 was as deep as I could go with Scouts Inc.)

I use about 8 different sites. Including a local guy in cincy(or at least he was local..now in florida I believe) called the drugstore list.

of all the sites I check...the average player rankings at Cb are:
Hall Mich.
Revis Pitts.
Houston Arkan.
Ross Texas
McCauley tied with Wright.
after that...it goes all over with some liking Hughes, some liking Wade, Wilson or others.

I still think in the real draft if Blalock or Grubbes is still on the board we will take him . This would give us a outstanding line for Jones to run behind . We can get a CB /LB with our two second rounders . I do not want Houston . Great speed but no turn overs .

Kiper is on severe crack listing Wright #2, especially in light of the skyrocketing exposure of player conduct and character. He also has Weddle as the #2 Safety ahead of Reggie Nelson, Michael Griffin, et al.

I'm closer to a Razorback shill than many, but I'll maintain that after watching 7+ games from each team in 2006 that Ross is a more complete CB than Houston. (I posted this same opinion in an earlier thread, sorry)
Sometimes all the reading in the world of 2nd/3rd hand accounts pales in comparison to the eyeball test.

Assuming you trust that particular eyeball...

Mr. Olsen goes to the Jets!
