| who me? Admin | The agent for Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson confirmed a report on SI.com Thursday that Peterson did re-injure his broken collarbone during the Fiesta Bowl -- but that even if he does require surgery, he'll be ready for training camp in July. "All 32 teams have known about this since the Combine (in late February)," said agent Ben Dogra. "The significant thing is that Adrian went back for a re-check on March 30 and 31st and doctors said he was healing and doing remarkably well." Dogra said it will be up to the team that drafts Peterson to determine whether or not they to do "plate" the injury, or have a metal plate inserted in the collarbone to stabilize it. Peterson is one of five players the Browns are considering at No. 3. "It's not a foregone that he'll need the surgery," said Dogra. "It's only if their doctor thinks he requires it. That's why it hasn't happened yet. If they do plate it, doctors have assured us that he'll have only 4-6 weeks of down time, meaning that if he has it in May, he'll be back in time for camp." Dogra said some teams have told him that they would probably let it heal on its own since it's doing so well. "I have not heard from the Browns as to what they would do," said Dogra. "But one way or the other, he'll be ready for the season." An e-mail message sent to Browns general manager Phil Savage was not immediately returned. Dogra said he does not expect the collarbone to affect Peterson's draft status. "I'm still confident he'll be among the top picks," said Dogra. "It's an upper-body injury, which is not as serious for a running back as a leg injury." Peterson first broke the collarbone diving into the end zone in week 6 against Iowa State. He missed the rest of the regular season and returned for the Fiesta Bowl. Source: The Plain Dealer |

| who me? Admin | I think it definitely is a concern, but I appear to be on a lone Island here. This is a re-injury in an area that was supposed to be healed, he has already had problems with the other shoulder, and has chronic ankle problems. There is absolutely no way I would be signing this guy to 1st round money when he is about to enter a much faster and harder hitting league. He gets hurt because he is impatient and runs too upright. As soon as you try to coach that stuff out of him, you have a less productive running back that is running in a style that is not comfortable to him. Disaster waiting to happen here. |

| 'Burghapologist | He had absolutely nothing to gain by coming back for that Bowl Game and obviously it didn't matter anyway. Here's a nugget for you, Mike. Robert Giavanetti, who is the Texas Tech beat writer and contributor for redraiders.com, said on our local show that his sources and friends close to the Cowboys' inner circle told him that Jerry Jones REALLY loves Peterson and is putting out trade feelers in order to move up for him. How would THAT be for Poetic Justice?? LOL |

Here is why. Jerry Jones believes in a couple guys when it comes to scouting running backs. Bill Parcells and Barry Switzer. Switzer is here this week scouting running backs with Jerry Jones. Neither Barry Switzer or Bill Parcells like larger running backs for the same reason, "there is too much to hit". Adrian Peterson is 6'2", and doesn't run like a running back that any of these guys would target. They favor a running back that is smaller, and can get "short and skinny" between the tackles. Adrian Peterson is the polar opposite of this. | |||
